| I have SO 2.1 running on one site that I am going to be deleting. I want to install SO on another site I have. If I leave the DB intact is there a way for me to have the new site use the new db instead of having to run through my set up and importing my sites again? I have roughly 2k worth of links and would hate to have to redo that again. |

hi there, well, yes, if you use the same database it might save you lots of time. Just there will be needed some edits in the mysql database itself, so if you are fine touching the database with phpmyadmin and you are experienced enough i can give you some guides, otherwise if you are not experienced with that stuff, it will be kinda hard for you to manage and better do a fresh install.
Let me know what type is the content you would like to save, is it text galleries, thumbs and etc..?

| I would like to be able to save all my settings, but if I have to reset the generals etc. Thats ok. I have static galleries that I would like to save along with my niches and keywords. |

ok, well, here's the instructions..
copy over the whole folder "SO", and place to your new location, make sure to preserve the permissions and chmod to 777 all necessary stuff as in the install instructions and any files inside the "sohtml", "thumb" and etc. folders..
copy the mysql database to your new location.
once this is done, edit manually the file "soinfo.inc.php", by setting your new mysql info.
After that if all fine, till here, login to the script and in general settings, change the script url setting by placing the new url..
