Problem with long descriptions containing characters (apostrophy and hyphen) that generate a question mark when the feed generates, then BA reports Parser Error: not well-formed (invalid token) and will not import the feed.
Checking the feed with feedvalidator.org reports 'utf8' codec can't decode byte 0x92 in position 1592: unexpected code byte (maybe a high-bit character?) and Your feed appears to be encoded as "UTF-8", but your server is reporting "US-ASCII"
Is there a specific instruction that can be added to the .htaccess file in the domain root to tell the Apache server how to handle the xml file (UTF-8 instead of US-ASCII) or does this require a change to the server config?

hm, yeah a character problem again. php can never handle that 100% perfectly..
the problem is not from the server config or something that you can fix up with server config.. the problem is some chars you type or copy and paste from other source get their encoding mixed up due to these lots of encoding changes..
go to your GS admin screen and see in what encoding the page is served. If it is not utf8, an upgrade could help coz i've been doing some stuff on that before some time, but if its utf8 the only workaround is to find which chars in that feed make the problem and remove them from the entries.. _________________

Humm, not sure how to check the encoding through the GS admin screen. My SysAdmin added the RFC 3023 statement to the httpd config file -
AddType 'application/rss+xml; charset=UTF-8' xml
Looks like GS is able to handle everything now except for contractions in the long description field... short description field seems to work fine.
Is this something that might be fixed with a server php upgrade to 5.2.4?

Looks like getting the most current GS files resolved the problem with the bad characters. Appreciate the very fast support!
THANKS!
