I'm having trouble handling the mix of vertical and horizontal photos in the same feed.

Do you have to set the dimensions in the {PIC_120x120} tag to exact horizontal and vertical dimensions? Or can you set the horizontal only?

I have set the "Resize Downloaded Big Pictures so they fit to max width of" to 580 pixels because I know that's how wide I want the pics to be.

How do you best handle horizontal and vertical photos? Is there a way to use {BIG_PIC} without a thumbnail?

for the thunmbs like {PIC_120x120} , yes it needs to be exact size

For the big pics it is made to be resized not to exact size, since it doesn't matter much for them, because they aren't displayed in your blog template, which could get broken..

Ok. I understand. What I am trying to do is insert pictures (have to be thumbnails that I understand now) that are a maximum width of 580 pixels. I don't care about the vertical dimension.

If it's a horizontal image resize it to maximum 580 pixels wide and if it's a vertical picture, resize it to max 580 wide. Is that possible? All of my vertical pictures are cropped.

no, currently that is not possible since the script uses both defined dimensions to crop and resize the thumbs. Maybe for next version i can think of a way to define just the one dimensions like {PIC_120xHEIGHT} and {PIC_WIDTHx120}

so it uses just the one dimension and resize proportionally..

That would be a very powerful feature! Pics are coming out more and more in a mix of horizontal and vertical. And with no way to specify lots of them get cropped with missing heads etc. Should I officially add it as a feature request somewhere?
