I understand that manual feeds are very similar to automatic feeds, the main difference being when and how the thumbnailing gets down. However a few things about manual feeds are confusing me:
1. The Update Interval and Resubmit options are missing from manual feeds.
2. Issue #1 makes me wonder: If I have a 20 item feed and 500 possible galleries for that feed, how is it decided which 20 to choose? And how often is the feed updated? And what happens when all 500 are used up?
Thanks. |

1. since these feeds are manually updated, not automatic by the script there is no update interval and resubmits.
2. Script picks at random galleries for each new post built. When you setup a feed to show 20 entries it doesn't mean only 20 galleries will be picked of 500 available total. The 20 entries is the maximum number of posts the feed will display. When you build a new entry the oldest gets pushed out and the newly built gets pushed in. _________________

Thanks for the quick reply.
That's what I was afraid of. I was *hoping* that manual feeds worked exactly like automatic feeds, except for a one-off step for manual thumbnailing. In other words, once the thumbnail is created, update every few hours ad infinitum.
So manual feeds don't solve my problem after all. Glad I asked before getting too far down the road. |
