hi there
I think my BO is not pinging. I.e. Technorati shows my posts only after manual pinging. Is there a way to find out, does BO oder does it not?

hello there,
first did you set in your blog settings to do a ping on each post?
second do you have ping sites in your database?
are your blogs displaying properly when the new posts are done, because the pinging is made the same way as it the blog regenerates? |

The Blog is displaying properly,
the setting is Auto-Ping yes
Ping Sites are in the Database and set to activ

What Sites do the"Manual Ping" ping?
Do I understand it right:
URL: Is the url of the update-service i.e. technorati
URL-Title: My Blog-Title
A manual Ping takes about 4 Minutes (!)

no man, about the manual ping you are wrong:
in the url field you type the blog you wish to ping...try with that and let me know.. |

OK here are the results of my testings:
I have a small script on a different url/different server, that gets the POSTDATA from a ping and email me with the postpata.
Its now only for the Manual Ping, ping with URL.
1)
All predefined plus the mentioned url active in the "Ping-Sites"
Most of the pings did not receive my script (i think only 10%) - I controlled this in the logfiles. If some pings received - i think they are garbled.
The process of pinging took about 3 - 5 Minutes and sometimes i thought the server hang up.
2)
I set all other Ping Sites to inactiv. OHH - the ping received always my script and the exracted data seems to be ok.
3)
I tried once again a new post - sri - no pings send out! All Blogs are set to Auto-Ping yes.
4)
Manual Ping with Blog-Feed-URL received neither.

| so basically the data you receive to your script is okay, right? it just isn't pingin on new posts? Well it is too much to take about 3-5 mins..this makes me think there is something wrong on your server, since i and noone else complained about the pings..will do some review again tomorrow and will let you know what we can do.. |

okay, lets start from the scratch..
try this one..
make a file called tmp.php
put this php code:
<?
require_once "boinfo.inc.php";
passthru("$globalotgovor[3] --spider $globalotgovor[1]bopinger.php?id=BLOG_ID");
?>
by replacing BLOG_ID with one of your blog's id.
put this file in the "bo" directory and run it through the web, and let me know what output you got. Also check after that if that blog was pinged.. |

so the ping went successfully and the ping services were pinged properly, right?

One addition:
I have set most of the defined pingservices disabled (inactiv).
one post, sheduled was pinged. Technorati has already indexed him. Could it be possible, that there was too many services activ?

well, it shouldn't be problem that you have many services as active. On that depends the time the whole ping process will take, but since all this is done in background it shouldn't be a problem.
What i want you to do now is the following:
Deactivate all ping sites, and leave only the url to your script as active one. So when BO will do ping will ping only your script, so you can see will it succeed. After you do that, go and add some test post into a blog and check on your script whether a ping was received successfully. After that go again and add a scheduled post to be published on the blog lets say after 2 mins, and then wait and see if your script will receive the ping again. Let me know the results from these 2 pings. If your script receives them properly, i don't see a reason the rest ping services won't receive the pings..

1) Test-Posting - with Add & Publish Immediately
No Ping received
2) Test-Posting - sheduled
Ping received
3) Test-Posting - sheduled 17 Services activ
Ping not received
4) Test-Posting - sheduled 6 Services activ
Ping received
5) Last test tonight:
Post published immed. with 6 services activ
Ping received
 Im not sure whats going here - is it a server-problem???????

well, to be honest man, i don't see any consecutive order or logic in your success/unsuccesful atempts. It looks like the problem is from your server, it can't be from the script itself, sometimes to ping other times not..ya know if something is working "it is working", if it is not working, "it is not working" its program, not human... So basically there is some problem either with your server config or with your server internet connection, but i don't know how exactly to trace the problem except giving me access to your script and server, so i can debug the script. But for this i will need to charge you, since the problem doesn't look from the script itself, but from your host.
Let me know what should we do..

First of all thank you for the assistance til now. I will first see how i can work around with these problems. I hope i will find a suitable way.
I find the script-idea good (thats why i have purchased) but i think that there must follow somehing i have mentioned in a other post. (Title-Tags etc) for better SEO.

| Hey, i like BO very much too, can't wait for the update, my blogs are getting HUGE without archive function... I wonder how google reacts when all of the sudden the pages are not named like post01, post02 and so on, but with the titel of the post... would google see this as spam, does somebody know? So, maybe it would be good in the update, when only the new sites are named after the title tag... just my opinion |

ninja0 , well i am little delaying the new version of BO, since i am adding tons of new features which require time to implement and time to test carefully.
there is no reason google to handle badly pages that are not named 01,02...
