I've installed many scripts that were far more complex than this, so I was very surprised when I got the following message:

Fatal error: Unable to read 13360 bytes in /home/various/public_html/bo/bo-install.php on line 0

Not sure what's going on, CHMODs are all correct, files uploaded in Binary mode, etc. Help?

I think that is because you need to upload all the files as 'binary' - your ftp program will probably default to 'auto' and upload the php files as ascii.

I had the same thing when I installed, uploading in binary fixed it.

I did upload in binary. Absolutely, positively, FORCED BINARY mode.

I am using Flash FXP, are you aware of there being any issue with its binary mode?? Trust me, it was set to BINARY for sure.

sorry man, the error:
Fatal error: Unable to read 13360 bytes in /home/various/public_html/bo/bo-install.php on line 0

is caused only from files not being uploaded in binary. Maybe the ftp client is buggy with it..If problems, hit me up on PM or email with your ftp info and i will upload quickly for you..

Thanks!

Wow, weird... I'll double check and try again, maybe with a different client. Flash FXP totally rocks in every way, I'd be shocked if this was somehow buggy with it... but whatever, I'll PM you if I need help. Thanks!

Well this sucks. It appears to be an issue with FlashFXP! No matter what I do, it ALWAYS transfers everything in ASCII, even if it's set to Binary ONLY. I can see it in the log, it switches to ASCII for every single file. Bizarre. I'm going to try another client now, I'm betting it'll work just fine.

OK, this is totally pissing me off. I used CuteFTP this time, and despite it saying all files were uploaded in Binary, I still get this error!

Fatal error: Unable to read 13360 bytes in /home/various/public_html/blog-organizer/bo-install.php on line 0

What the heck is going on? Did I get a corrupt download somehow or something weird like that?

I guess I need your help at this point... PMing you info now. Thanks.

okay man you are done. I uploaded without any problems from the first time.
Just contact now your host to make available "wget" and then fill out the install form. Let me know on more problems.

Thanks!

Great, thanks. Still wish I know why two different FTP clients could not upload correctly for me, but... maybe I'll never know. Just worried that if I ever need to reinstall and you're not readily available, I'll be in trouble. Oh well, guess I'll just cross my fingers.

Thanks again!

I still get the same error message now. Is it because "wget" is not installed? Has that maybe been the problem all along?

Maybe my uploads actually were fine after all?

I'll ask the host about wget.

your script pages now load fine, just there is no "wget" installed properly and the install file warns you that. Ask your host to instal wget and make it available for php scripts to use it.

Let me know..

About your upload problem, in the past i was using a ISP that had some weird settings, forcing all uploads in ASCII mode, it might be from that. As i told you i didn't have any problem uploading properly in BINARY mode from the first time on your server...

Well, I would think that if it was the ISP globally forcing all transfers into ASCII, then every time I ever uploaded any images or other binary material, I would have had problems. This is the first and only time I've ever had a problem like this, so... I don't really know how to explain it. Very very strange.

Maybe once wget is active everything will work... I don't get an error message about wget though, just the same error message as before. Who knows... thanks much for all your help though!

Just contacted my host, and I'm told that wget is already enabled.

So, now what?

well, i still see the install file can't find wget. Can you ask your host where it is installed (the full path) to the wget, and is it made so that php scripts can access it.

Thanks!

OK, I've been told the path is /usr/bin/wget

Does that help?

huh i just checked on your server and wget is really available, but not sure why BO can't find it..maybe the config of your server is kinda strange. Anyways, to make BO running there will be little more work in this case:
1) Fill the install form to install the script.
2) With phpmyadmin or direct access to the BO mysql database, the field "wget_path" in table bosettings must be set manually to "/usr/bin/wget"
3) You will need manually to set the 2 necessary cronjobs.

Let me know if you need more help with these stuff.
